Heart Rate Monitor Training:

rate whilst exercising. The use of an HRM to set exercise intensity is based on sound physiological principals - as the work increases, oxygen consumption and heart rate increases in a linear relationship until near maximal intensities. Once it reaches its maximum intensity does not show a linear relationship. This can be used to decide with what intensity to practice. It provides an accurate reflection of how hard one is exercising - persons guess are notoriously unreliable.
Reasons for Monitoring Heart Rate:
Exercise intensity is defined as the amount of energy expended per minute to perform a task. Exercise intensities that are too low may not result in the desired training effect, whereas a too high training intensity may cause over training.
Heart Rate Monitor
It usually consists of two parts, a chest strap and a wrist receiver. Strapless heart rate monitors are also available. The chest strap consists of electrodes in contact with skin to monitor the electrical changes in the heart. When heart beats it is detected and a radio signal is sent out which the receiver uses to determine the current heart rate. Many advace versions are avilable which have facilities like:
Coded transmission process (from chest strap to watch) to reduce interference.
Ability to capture large amounts of data.
Functions to aid with training e.g. high and low range for setting training zones.
Ability to download the captured data onto a computer and then analyze with special software
Steps in using Heart Rate Monitor:
Heart rate that's best for training session. Calculate target heart rate.
Adjust monitor to stick to it. Most monitors can be set to beep when strayed from target heart rate
It will display how long has been spent in target heart rate.
It will display calorie burned.
This will allow tailoring and monitoring sessions.
Clinical Implications:
There is definitely a clinical necessity to monitor heart rate in conditions such as
When athlete who is returning from injury there is a need for them to ease slowly back into training, thus to make sure that they are not working too hard.
Coinciding with this is when working with athletes who may exhibit symptoms of over training
Athletes exhibiting Chronic fatigue, monitoring of heart rates so that the athlete can work in easy to moderate zones
The heart rate is a useful parameter for monitoring the reaction of the athlete's body to training. But it will not tell person which set of exercise are having positive effects on athlete's body.

Heart rate calculator
Target heart rate zone (training zone) is the range between 60% and 80% of maximum heart rate. Working within this zone gives the maximum health and fat-burning benefits from cardiovascular activity. Maximum heart rate is the upper limit of what...

Heart rate monitor watches:
wristwatches were developed, and luminous hands and markers were developed. Men tended to regard the heart rate monitor watch as effeminate. So, the vintage Rolex men's watch is a relatively rare timepiece. As demand for heart rate monitor watches...
